Video creators might soon be benefiting from NFTs as Youtube is likely to follow in Twitter’s footsteps.

Youtube Joins the List of Social Media Platforms that Will Explore NFTs

In her letter to creators, Youtube’s Chief Executive Officer Susan Wojcicki has confirmed that the platform will be exploring NFT integration for its users.

While no further details have been revealed yet, such as a specific date, or how exactly the non-fungible tokens would be integrated onto the platform, the step marks the first time that a Google-owned company is exploring this type of new feature. Youtube would thus join several other social media that have dabbled in crypto tech, such as Twitter or Discord.

Youtube is home to the largest community of content creators. Therefore, it seems logical that it would eventually go down this road, as the platform has spent years perfecting evaluation systems for its creators.

We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs, while continuing to strengthen and enhance the experiences creators and fans have on YouTube, Wojcicki wrote in her letter.

As many video bloggers and content creators already sell their own NFTs as secondary sources of income to their primary ones from youtube ads, the new feature promises to unify the two and greatly simplify the whole process of payments.

However, with no further details, we will have to wait and see how exactly this new feature is going to be implemented onto the platform and what impact it is going to have.
