Great, but not unexpected news arrives from Latin America, where Argentinians will soon enjoy the benefits of having access to digital assets through their local banks. As reported by Bloomberg, two of the biggest country’s banks will provide crypto in their offers to their clients.
Banco Galicia, the country’s biggest private bank, and digital bank Brubank SAU have decided to add Bitcoin, Ether, and other cryptocurrencies into their offer after their poll has shown that 60% of Argentinians desired easy access to digital assets through their banks.
“This motivated us to push this project,” says Ariel Sanchez, manager of investment products, while Nicolas de Giovanni, senior product manager at Banco Galicia, adds: “The youth is the group that asks for this the most.”
Indeed, according to Chainalysis, a blockchain analytics website, Argentina belongs among the top 10 countries around the world that keep a very warm attitude towards crypto. Young Argentinians especially tend to protect their wealth by investing in digital assets.
The service will be provided through the same platform that allows the banks’ clients to buy stocks and bonds and will be powered by the country’s crypto wallet Lirium. The crypto community welcomes this move in hopes that other banks and countries will follow the Argentinian example.
