Schiff's prediction of a switch to digital currencies is based on how quickly the dollar is losing value. As the U.S. continues to fight rising inflation, Schiff pointed out that people won't keep their short-term money in dollars when the dollar starts to lose money quickly.
During the bull run of cryptocurrencies in 2021, Schiff argued that the precious metal had lost some of its appeal, due to the bull market in cryptocurrencies. Schiff said that investors forgot about gold because Bitcoin was getting so much attention.
