Meta to Launch Chatbots with Personas to Retain Customers

According to a report from the Financial Times, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, has released plans to initiate artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots as soon as next month. The AI chatbots will offer users a new way to search, get recommendations and engage with its products, along with being a “fun product for people to play with.”

Citing a conversation with three company insiders, the FT noted that the chatbots may have unique personalities and take the form of different characters. Sources close to the matter say the company has already explored a bot that offers travel advice “in the style of a surfer” and another speaking as Abraham Lincoln.

The upcoming product could help Meta compete on two fronts. On the one hand, to increase engagement with services like Facebook and Instagram, and on the other hand, the chatbots could also serve as a showcase for Meta’s AI capabilities.

Furthermore, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta has declared his plans to build “AI personas” into the company’s products. He announced the new product group that focused on generative AI.

“Over the longer term, we’ll focus on developing AI personas that can help people in a variety of ways,” said Zuckerberg.

In conclusion, AI investments are still a very recent phenomenon that many companies are researching and innovating. Soon, we shall see what kind of AI chatbots Meta will create and what more AI investment they could develop.
