Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) is seeking an experienced corporate attorney to assist the company in expanding its Web3 presence and handling transactions involving new technologies such as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), blockchain, metaverse, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
On September 25, the Walt Disney Company's Legal Department's Corporate Transactions Group posted a job ad on LinkedIn seeking a "Principal Counsel - Corporate Transactions, Emerging Technologies & NFTs."
The attorney is expected to provide comprehensive product life cycle legal guidance and assistance for worldwide NFT products. During this process, Disney attorneys and various business stakeholders maintain close collaboration.
This newly hired employee will assist with due diligence for "NFT, blockchain, third-party marketplace, and cloud provider projects." They will also assist with complicated agreement negotiations and contract writing.
When planning the "accelerated and aggressive" implementation of new worldwide emerging technology initiatives, the Principal Counsel should collaborate closely with the various business units.
As part of its search for legal counsel, Disney is seeking an attorney who has managed complex corporate transactions for a minimum of five to eight years and has worked for a large multinational law firm with an internationally recognized corporate practice.
Overall, this new employment opportunity demonstrates Disney's ongoing exploration of the Web3 world, as well as the company's effort to avoid being left behind in the wake of the NFT and metaverse movements. Two weeks ago, Disney's CEO announced outlined plans for the company’s metaverse, referring to Disney’s vision for the metaverse as “next-generation storytelling.”
