The future of the digital asset industry is set to be discussed at a hearing scheduled by the US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee.
Patrick McHenry, chairman of the Financial Services Committee, announced a full committee hearing on the 6th of June. The hearing titled “The Future of Digital Assets: Providing Clarity for the Digital Asset Ecosystem,” is scheduled for the 13th of June at 2 pm ET and will be live-streamed on the committee’s website.
The Financial Services Committee manages the US economy by overseeing the reserve banks, Federal Reserve Board, US Treasury, capital markets, and currency production and distribution.
Although the Financial Services Committee did not articulate the range of topics covered in the hearing, some members of the crypto community hope that the most pressuring issues in the sector will be covered.
One of the members of the community reacted to the SEC lawsuits against two crypto exchanges – Binance and Coinbase. In their comment, the user supported the “coordinated attack by the states” on the crypto exchanges.
On the other hand, some members have called out the committee to keep the chairman of SEC, Gary Gensler, under control. Additionally, some believe that the SEC chief had “disregarded” the discussions from previous hearings.
A hearing from 6th June titled: “The Future of Digital Assets: Providing Clarity for Digital Asset Spot Markets,” where the committee discussed the future of digital assets covered a discussion about the draft bill by McHenry and House Ag Committee chair Glenn Thompson.
