ETH 2 has to pass another Big Test before the Mainnet

A quick update by Danny Ryan (Eth2 Researcher) highlights the approaching launch of another public testnet called Spadina.

Mainnet Ethereum 2 is around the corner, so the developers have decided on another very important step that will confirm the readiness of this network. The community can thus prepare for another public launch of the testnet, which will run in parallel with Medalla at the end of this month.

Danny Ryan stated:

Spadina will be a (primarily) mainnet configuration testnet with a 3 day end-of-life (EOL).

The main objective is to give us all another chance to go through one of the more difficult and risky parts of the process – deposits and genesis – before we reach mainnet.

This 3-day testnet will cover the latest and greatest iteration of Lauchpad, focusing on key generation and management, as well as client setup from scratch. It will be a fast but thorough testnet, which you can participate in if you are interested. If your skills are sufficient and you can quickly manage keys and more clients from the command line, you can be a good candidate.
