According to a statistics published by fs INSIGHT, bitcoin is the overall winner and is the best performing asset class in the years 2019-2020.
Bitcoin beats US Treasuries (20+ Years) by 17.9% in 2020 and Gold by as much as 26.5% by YTD Return. The following are the classic US Treasuries which have a value of 8.9%, Gov. Bond Idx – Global with 1.8%, Nasdaq 1.7% and US HG Credit with 0.6%, USD 3M CASH 0.5%. Other assets show negative numbers by YTD Return.
It is clear that the COVID-19 crisis has affected these assets the most and we see significant differences compared to 2019.
Last year, none of the monitored assets had negative numbers, and only Gold was able to maintain its position, other companies that were at the top fell into severe deficit in 2020.
Most importantly is that Bitcoin defended its position with a decent lead also in 2020, in 2019 it had an incredible value up to 92.2% by Return.
Thomas Lee as one of Wall Street’s top-ranked institutional analysts described the statistics as follows:
